PAMAN GOBER

Paman gober is short for penanaman dan gowes bersama (planting and cycling together). The event is the last event of Dewa Athena (Sports fair). The goal for the event is to have fun and exercise with friends, we also plant trees to reduce air pollution.

On Saturday 8th April 2017, we came to the lapang bali (bali field) near our school. The participants brought their own bike or borrowed it first in the school yard. If we wanted to borrow, we just need to get it back after the event. The event began at 7 o'clock in the morning, there were a speech and opening from the principal. After that the event begin and everyone went to the planting spot. It took approximately one hour to get there.

We arrived at Cisokan, a housing complex for the planting spot. Everyone parked their bike and sat in the field. The location was empty and they already prepared the location. After that we was greeted by the local and we had a ceremonial plant giving by our principal. From all the participants, they wanted each class to present two representatives for the planting. They already prepared the shovel and the plants, so the representatives only helped putting the plants into the prepared soil. The rest of us just sat there waiting for them to finished.

After the planting event was done, everyone came back to sat and got ready to continue. The next destination for the event was to go back to bali field or SMAN 3 Bandung. So after everyone was ready, we left from Cisokan to bali field. The route was slightly longer but it didn't matter. There were no serious issues on the road except for some bike broke. After we arrived that conclude the event of PAMAN GOBER. But at noon, there would be the Dewa Athena finals. So the event was fun and very helpful for our environtment.

Compliment

When I was in junior high school (SMPN 1 Bandung), I had a best friend. His name is Hatta Rizqur Rahman Muharram, he is the same age with me. He was a very kind, cheerful, and also serious. We was interested in Star Trek, a famous tv series. He also had the same interests with me, we both loved science fiction. We also coincidentally went into the same class for three years. We sat together in the class for lessons. We also followed the same extracuricullar, that was boyscout (pramuka).

There are a lot of things I experienced with him, because I met him both in boyscout and in class. He became the leader of the boyscout and very responsible. Usually we went studying together, played together, and prayed together. He was very kind and cheerful with everyone.

The thing that inspired me, was the passion that he had on his dream. He wanted to be a flight technician, he was very specific and already learned the basic. He liked everything about plane. He read, he played simulator game, and had known the plane procedures.

I wanted to say Thank you for everything

Dewa Athena

Dewa Athena
Dewa Athena is the name of SMAN 3 Bandung sport competition. Dewa Athena is the translation of Athene Gods,  because the first olympic was held there. Also, our school differentiates with other school. Normally other school held their events after the examination finished,  but our school do the event in the end of march and early April. The time of the event is divided by two, for the 11th grader and for us the 10th grader.  The 11th grader events are in the 21st-23rd of March, the 10th grader events are in the 25th March, 1st April, and 8th April. There are many sports for us to compete, there are dodgeball for boys and girls, badminton for boys and girls, volleyball, basketball, football, running competition, gobak sodor (traditional game), and tug of war. Gobak sodor is the only traditional sport that we play, it was a game especially for child. In gobak sodor we must win by passing every enemy team when we on the attacking side, if we play defensive we must stop the attacking team. If all the player of the enemy team can’t pass, the sides switch. Every class must participate by sending representatives for each of sport event.
My class is X IPA/Science 2, we already prepared for the event. We have decided every representatives for each sport event, we even made our very own jersey just for the event.  So at Saturday morning I went there early, I arrived before the event had started. Some of my friends were already there, but the event was delayed for about 40 minutes from the schedule. The opening ceremony took place in the basketball court, and the first game that day was my class competing in basketball. I didn’t play, but I was watching the whole match. We won and it was a pretty close game, it was very exciting. I played gobak sodor with my class, but we didn’t win. My class also played the tug of war but we also lost to other class. So, the boys only won the basketball game. I didn’t play anything after that, I only watched other class play. But the girls in our class won two events, they won dodgeball and badminton. After that, we had a break time to pray and to eat. So I ate some foods and do my prayer in the mosque nearby. There are still some events after break time, so my friends and I went back to watch other events. I didn’t go home because I was waiting to watch my friend play badminton. He was scheduled to play at 3 pm. I watch other badminton match with my friends, waiting for his turn. So at 3 pm my friends played badminton, and they won the event . The match was really exciting because they were really good at playing badminton. After that match I went home at around 3.40 pm.  It was the first day of the event  and there are still more sport events in the second day.

On the second day of Dewa Athena 1st April, I went late from my home so I arrived late to the event. As expected, the first match was delayed. So I still waited for the event  and it started around 7.30 am. The first match was not my class playing. But I watched the football match, because later my class team was scheduled to play. So when my class team played, all of my class were watching together. We cheered for our class, the match was pretty close. But we lost to them with the score 4-5, but I think my team is really good when they played and they already done the best. I watched other class played, but my class didn’t  play for a while. So I read e-book to pass the time, then my class follow the running competition. My class didn’t win that, but we win the girls dodgeball.  Then my friends and I had a break, we ate and went to do our prayer in the mosque nearby.  After break time I was waiting again to see my friends play badminton. The first to compete are the girls, they did their best but they lost. Then we watch other matches before my friends start playing.  When my friends played, one of my friend didn’t play because he played volleyball. But he was substituted by my other friend.  So my friends still played and they won again. After that I went home. The third day wasn’t started yet. It will at 8th April. The final, the decider.

Learning from Nature

Learning is the most essential thing in a civilizations and cultures. By learning we will have a lot of knowledge. By having a better knowledge we can advance our society to be more civilized. We learn everyhing from the moment we were born. At first we were not told by someone to do something. We were not directly taken to school when we born. But we observe our surrounding, we learn from nature. We learn to know ourself, our parents, our home through observation. Then, we learn more exact things from other people. Learning from nature is the most important step of learning. Because we can simply observe nature and learn from it. We are not wild animals, we can see in nature that animals behave however they like. Because humans have brain, we  have consciousness. We should not act solely based on our instinct, we do everything by our belief. We are intellectual beings that can learn. We are the most intellegent creature, but we also make the most mistakes. Making a mistake is alright, but learning from our mistake is the most important part. This process of learning will happen indefinitely because humans are not perfect and will never be. But we can try to do the best for everything. We can try to improve everything.
Nature is everything that surrounds us, animals, plants, and the environment. We lived alongside them, in the environment. We learn to harness nature power for our needs. For making our food, home, clothes, and everything we needs. We use animals for our food, as our pet, and our house guardian. We use plants for our food, clothes, and house furnitures. By observing and learning about it we can maximize our potential. We learn that cow produce milk, so we harvest it for our food. We learn that the sap from a rubber tree can make a rubber, so we use it as material for our clothes and tires. Because we cannot create them from a scratch, we only transform nature into our needs.
The most basic and fundamental is to learn from the nature itself. To learn all the beauties, wonders, and surprises nature has to offer us. Until now humans still far from understanding everything completely. It seems like whenever everything looks clear, there will be new theories to improve it.
We can take the positive behaviors of nature, to be working with others in harmony. We learn to be a better person like animals. Eventhough animals are primal and primitive, we can learn a really good teamwork just by looking to the army of ants marching together, the hardwork of animals for feeding their offsprings, and the patient of a tiger, wauting for the right moment to strikes. Not only for attitude and moral value, we tend to observe it and receive inspirations for technology and science. From the drop of an apple we discover a strong force of gravity. By observing the birds, we are able to create a flying machine ourself. Through that technology our life become easier and more prosper. Our technologies have rooms for improvements. Our potentials are great, we even have not reached far in outer space. But learning from nature takes great responsibility. Many people observe but also destroy things. Many just take as much as they could get. They doesn't care about nature, they only care about themself. We should not be greedy for wealth and exploitation. We must be responsible for our actions and the results of them. We may not feel it now but later generations will. The effects are permanent and cannot changed if we do not change. If later generations don't have any nature to observe, learn from, and use for their needs. We will doomed them if we act recklessly.

My Last Holiday

On my last holiday in 2016, the holiday after the first semester in my school. I stayed at home. It is because of my father. He was still studying in the university. So, my family didn't go to my grandmother's house in Palembang. My family didn't go out much, we only went to some restaurant and PVJ. But relatives came to Bandung to visit my grandmother that lives here. So I met them in my grandmother house and talked, shared stories with each other. Everyday, If I have no other activity I played video games both alone and multiplayer with my friends. Usually I play with my friends on saturday night, so when holiday we play together everyday, every time, as long as we can. I played DOTA with my friends, my friends and I already play it since junior high school. Because of it, we still play together, have fun together, and still in touch with each other. Not only DOTA, I also played singleplayer games. Luckily, a famous developer give some of their games for free. I played and finished a singleplayer game titled Assassin Creed 3, it was good and it was very charitable from them for giving games. I didn't care that the games that they gave me were old and outdated. They were some of the best games in their histories. Until now i still have some of them not yet played. I also love the school holiday because of the sales at the online market called Steam. They was very kind every holiday, by selling almost all of their games in discounted price. So I bought one of the games I wanted. I played that game too during the holiday. It was Total War: Shogun 2, it was a game about wars in old Japan. I didn't finish the game because I lost my several attempt at beating the game but it was a lot of fun playing it. I also spend a lot of my time watching interesting youtube videos, especially about game. I watched a lot of videos, a lot of it pretty much an hour long. It was pretty much all of the activities in my last holiday. It was great, I spent my holiday with my own way of relaxing. I can't wait for my next holiday.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (22 May 1859 – 7 July 1930) was a  writer and most noted for creating the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes and writing stories about him which are generally considered milestones in the field of crime fiction.
Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle was born on 22 May 1859 at 11 Picardy Place, Edinburgh, Scotland. His father, Charles A, was English, and his mother, Mary. His parents married in 1855. In 1864 the family dispersed due to Charles's growing alcoholism.
Doyle was sent to the Jesuit preparatory school Hodder Place, Stonyhurst, at the age of nine (1868–70). He then went on to Stonyhurst College until 1875. From 1875 to 1876, he was educated at the Jesuit school Stella Matutina in Feldkirch, Austria. From 1876 to 1881, he studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh Medical School.
he set up an independent practice. Arriving in Portsmouth in June 1882 with less than £10 (£900 today) to his name, he set up a medical practice at 1 Bush Villas in Elm Grove, Southsea. The practice was initially not very successful. While waiting for patients, Doyle began writing fiction.
Doyle struggled to find a publisher for his work. His first work featuring Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, A Study in Scarlet, was taken by Ward Lock & Co on 20 November 1886, giving Doyle £25 (£2500 today) for all rights to the story. Holmes was partially modelled on his former university teacher Joseph Bell. Though not the first fictional detective, Sherlock Holmes is arguably the most well-known, with Guinness World Records listing him as the "most portrayed movie character" in history. Sir Arthur wrote a total of 60 stories. There is a museum of Sherlock Holmes at 221b Baker Street, London. There were also movies and TV series based by the books.
Doyle had served as a volunteer doctor in the Langman Field Hospital at Bloemfontein between March and June 1900. Doyle believed that this publication was responsible for his being knighted as a Knight Bachelor by King Edward VII in 1902 and for his appointment as a Deputy-Lieutenant of Surrey. Also in 1900 he wrote a book, The Great Boer War.
In 1885 Doyle married Louisa (sometimes called "Touie") Hawkins, the youngest daughter of J. Hawkins, of Minsterworth, Gloucestershire, and sister of one of Doyle's patients. She suffered from tuberculosis and died on 4 July 1906. The following year he married Jean Elizabeth Leckie, whom he had first met and fallen in love with in 1897. He had maintained a platonic relationship with Jean while his first wife was still alive, out of loyalty to her. Jean died in London on 27 June 1940.
Doyle fathered five children. He had two with his first wife: Mary Louise (28 January 1889 – 12 June 1976) and Arthur Alleyne Kingsley, known as Kingsley (15 November 1892 – 28 October 1918). He had an additional three with his second wife: Denis Percy Stewart (17 March 1909 – 9 March 1955), second husband of Georgian Princess Nina Mdivani; Adrian Malcolm (19 November 1910 – 3 June 1970); and Jean Lena Annette (21 December 1912 – 18 November 1997).
Doyle was found clutching his chest in the hall of Windlesham Manor, his house in Crowborough, East Sussex, on 7 July 1930. He died of a heart attack at the age of 71.

White Cockatoo

Umbrella-CockatooThe white cockatoo (Cacatua alba), also known as the umbrella cockatoo, is a medium-sized all-white cockatoo endemic to tropical rainforest on islands of Indonesia. When surprised, it extends a large and striking head crest, which has a semicircular shape (similar to an umbrella, hence the alternative name). The undersides of the wings and tail have a pale yellow or lemon color which flashes when they fly. It is similar to other species of white cockatoo such as yellow-crested cockatoo, sulphur-crested cockatoo, and salmon-crested cockatoo, all of which have yellow, orange or pink crest feathers instead of white.
It kingdom is Animalia, phylum is Chordata, class is Aves, order is Psittaciformes, superfamily is cacatuoidea, family is Cacatuidae, subfamily is Cacatuinae, tribe is Cacatuini, genus is Cacatua, subgenus is Cacatua, species is C.alba.

Cacatua alba -Pairi Daiza, Hainaut, Belgium-8a.jpgThe white cockatoo is around 46 cm (18 in) long, and weighs about 400 g (14 oz) for small females and up to 800 g (28 oz) for big males. The male white cockatoo usually has a broader head and a bigger beak than the female. They have brown or black eyes and a dark grey beak. When mature some female white cockatoos can have reddish/brown irises, while the irises of the adult male are dark brown or black.

The feathers of the white cockatoo are mostly white. However, both upper and lower surfaces of the inner half of the trailing edge of the large wing feathers are a yellow color. The yellow color on the underside of the wings is most notable because the yellow portion of the upper surface of the feather is covered by the white of the feather immediately medial (nearer to the body) and above.

In their natural habitat, umbrella cockatoos typically feed on various seeds, nuts and fruits, such as papaya, langsat, and rambutan.

Ampera Bridge

Ampera Bridge, Palembang.jpgThe Ampera Bridge is a vertical-lift bridge in the city of Palembang, Indonesia. The Ampera Bridge is the landmark of the city and use for connecting two regions of the city. It connects Seberang Ulu and Seberang Ilir that was separated by Musi River. For a few years after it was opened, the center span could be lifted at a speed of approximately 10 meters per minute to allow ships of up to 44.5m in height to pass underneath with a mechanical system and 500 tons ballast weights. However this only occurred a few times, and after 1970 it could no longer be opened. The official reason for this was that the 30 minutes needed to raise the bridge is too long for a delay. Now, only a 9 m ship that can pass under the bridge. However, according to architect Wiratman, who acted as a consultant before the construction, the design of the bridge was flawed from the outset because of the soft mud on which it was built. He maintains that his concerns were ignored for political reasons, and that as the towers' foundations shifted, the bridge deformed to the extent that it could no longer be opened. The ballast weights needed to balance the wight of the bridge were removed in 1990 to prevent possible accidents were they to fall.

It was the longest bridge in Southeast Asia in 1965.  It height is 11,5 m tall above sea level or 63 m above ground level. The distance between the two towers is 75 m. And it weight is 944 tons. The bridge was planned during the era of Indonesia's first president, who wanted a bridge that could open and be a match for London's Tower Bridge. The funds for the construction came from Japanese war reparations, with the Fuji Car Manufacturing Co. Ltd being given responsibility for design and construction. It was cost for about USD 4.500.000 at that time. However, at the time, Japan had no bridges of this type, and Fuji Car had no bridge-building experience. The official opening was carried out by Minister/Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Ahmad Yani. At first, the bridge was known as the Bung Karno Bridge, after the president. It was renamed the Ampera Bridge. Now the bridge is one of the tourists destination for photo, it has some colourful lights and look beautiful with the Musi River in the night and they also come to eat many traditional foods located near the bridge.

Experience at Megantara, SMA Negeri 3 Bandung Festival Culture

On Saturday, 10th September 2016 I went to Megantara. Megantara is an acronym for Mega and Nusantara. It is a cultural festival for everyone to enjoy. I went to Lapangan Bali at 7:30 AM to participate in the parade before the event. I wore pangsi, a traditional Sundanese clothes. There were a lot people join the parade, we went from Bali Street to Belitung Street, Sumatera Street, Merdeka Street, Jawa Street, then back to Bali Street promoting Megantara. After the parade, my friend and I went to school to change our clothes. After changing our clothes we waited for dzuhur prayer in our school before going to Megantara. After dzuhur prayer, at 12:30 AM we went to Lapangan Bali. It was the place for Megantara, then my friends and I gave our tickets and went in. We got a drink at the entrance, then we walked in. The places were divided by many sections and a large stage, the sections is named after Indonesia Islands. The places were decorated with a lot of  traditional patterns. Each section represented their traditional cultures such as traditional food. Then I went to the food stand and bought fried rice for my lunch, it tasted really good and the size is big. Then I went near the stage to watch the traditional groups performed. They were Kelompok Paduan Angklung 3 (an angklung orchestra from my school), Jaipong Dancers, Bali Dancers, and many more. Then, I bought some foods and drinks. I met a lot of my friends when I was in Junior High School. They also wanted to see the festival themselves. In the afternoon the people started to come flooding the place, around 4:00 PM. When the stage was empty, I went for ashar prayer then went back to saw the performances. Experience At World Tournament and Techno Fest (WTTF)

On Saturday, 20th August 2016 I went to the school for parcitipating in the event called "World Tournament & Techno Fest 2016" also known as WTTF. I went to Lapangan Bali wearing black t-shirt and red handband to differentiate from the other class. I met my classmate there, before 6.30 a.m.. Every student from 32019 (my year) and 32018 (senior) must join or participate in the event. This event was organized by OSIS so we can try to speak english for one day. If we spoke bahasa Indonesia we got reduction or minus in our score. At 6.30 p.m. the event started with a speech, and we were matched with our seniors (XI IPA 2). Then, we listened to the introduction of this event. In short, our galaxy has been destroyed. We must go to post or planets and play challenges or games there, if we win we will get a piece of our galaxy (puzzle piece) to restore our galaxy (complete the puzzle). There was also other things, The Aliens. If we hit them with water balloon, we took a puzzle piece from them. But, if we get hit by them, we must gave a puzzle piece to them. The aliens wore raincoat. After that, we went to SMAN 3 Bandung for clues like a map.

Our first clue from the map was to go to the historical building, so we went to the main building of SMAN 3 Bandung. In front, there is the first post/planet. The contestants must ate a plate of spicy noodles as fast as possible. Unfortunately our class lost the first post. Then, we went to XI IPA 3 in the big hallway. The contestants of this planet must played Tekken, a fighting theme video game. Each class represented by 3 persons. It was a close fight, but we lost again. Then we go to Taman Musik (Music Park) in Bali Street. In that planet we played "Ranking 2" or second rank. It was a parody of the famous TV show.  Our goal was to be the 2nd rank. 5 persons from each class must answered general knowledge. Our class won because everyone eliminated except one person from our class. After that we went to the next planet located in the indoor field in Lapangan Bali. There, 5 persons from each class played soccer game called (Pro Evolution Soccer) for 5 minute. My class lost 1-0. After that, we went to basketball field to play quiz about technology. My class representative won. In the soccer field, we played some flappy bird. I also played with some of my friends, 15 seconds each. I score 10 points, then we won the game. Then, 10 persons from each class played protect the queen. We must take the opponent scarf shaped like armbands to win. My class lost again, but we get a piece from hitting an alien. Then we walked to Tongkeng Park, for 20 minutes. There, we made a robot using trash. Our creation wasn't great but good enough to make us win. Then, we took a break to eat and pray in the mosque. After that, we go to photography park and 2 persons from each class play twister. They were told to follow the instructions. My class won this game very quickly.

After we finished, we went back to SMAN 3. I walked with some of my friends, the other used public transportation. When we arrived at SMAN 3 we were told to go to Lapangan Bali because of Alien Attack! Because time's almost up, we just need to took the pieces from the alien. We only got 1 piece. Then, we put together all the puzzle pieces. I think we cheated a little because some of the others puzzle pieces that belong to our seniors were kept by us. So they had missing pieces. So, 32019 was victorious. And there was also prizes for the best class and giveaways. It was a fun and unique experience.

I like to read books, fantasy or science fiction to be exact. My favourite books are the series of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I also have read other books like Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, and many more. We can read books with our handphone application. Reading books in English also can improve our ability. In my free time I also play computer games. Usually I play games at Friday,Saturday, and Sunday with my friends. We make appointment and play online game together (DOTA2). I usually play for about 3 hours with my friends.  Playing game make us still in touch with each other. I also like to play other games alone. I think playing games is allright if you don't play for too much. You can also play with me if you want to. That is all I can say for now. Thank you for reading.
